Department of Defense

The Secretary of Defense is the principal defense policy advisor to the Grand Duke. Under the direction of the Grand Duke, the Secretary exercises authority, direction, and control over the Department of Defense. The Deputy Secretary, the second-highest ranking official in the DoD, is delegated full power and authority to act for the Secretary and to exercise the powers of the Secretary on any and all matters for which the Secretary is authorized to act.

With our Knights Defense tracing its roots back to the declaration of sovereignty, the Department of Defense has grown and evolved with our non state sovereign entity.

The national security depends on our defense installations and facilities being in the right place, at the right time, with the right qualities and capacities to protect our national resources.

The Defense Department manages an inventory of installations and facilities to keep every Republic of Aquitainian safe.

Department of State

The mission of the Department of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs is to create a more secure, and prosperous world for the benefit of the Republic of Aquitaine people and the international community. The history of the Republic of Aquitaine people is the chronicle of our efforts to live up to our ideals.

The Department of State is the institution of central public administration which implements the foreign policy of the Republic of Aquitaine, in accordance with the legislation in force and with the government’s program.

For that purpose the Ministry works closely with other government institutions, with representatives of the civil society, the business community, the cultural and academic institutions.

In the coming years, the principal aims of the Department of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs are clear. These aims are anchored in the Grand Duke’s National Security Strategy and its three underlying and interdependent components - diplomacy, development, and defense.

First, we will strive to build and maintain strong bilateral and multilateral relationships in pursuit of our mission.

Second, we must protect our non state sovereign entity, our allies, and our friends against the transnational dangers and enduring threats arising from tyranny, poverty, and disease.

Third, our focus is on deepening the participation of the Republic of Aquitaine in the European Union and Pacifc rim countries.
